5 Things You Must Do in Berlin

Berlin is one hell of a city – if you only have a couple of days there it’s hard to choose what to do and see. So, to help you out, here are 5 things I feel that you have to do while in town.

1. Visit the Fernsehturm TV Tower!

A trip to Berlin would not be complete without taking a trip to this iconic landmark. Make sure you get the lift up into the rotating restaurant, located in the towers globe. Inside there, you’ll get stunning views of the whole city. It’s an unforgettable experience. Location-wise, it’s close to Alexanderplatz in the Mitte area.

TIP: It’s open until midnight so, for an extra special view, go up late at night. You’ll get an amazing view of Berlin after dark!

2. Get your hands on a Berlin WelcomeCard

This magic little card will get you 25% off when you visit the city’s most well-known attractions. It also gives you hassle-free travel on the city’s public transport system, allowing you to get around with absolutely no restrictions.

Hate long queues? This ticket lets you skip the long lines outside of popular landmarks and sights. Plus, you’ll get 50% off when you visit the Television Tower, Museum Island and Charlottenburg Palace.

3. Visit the Reichstag

One of the biggest and best sights in Berlin is the stunning Reichstag. It’s the home of the German Parliament, otherwise known as the Bundestag.

Make sure you visit on a clear day, as it offers access up to the terrace where you’ll see breath-taking views of the entire city.

Best of all, it’s free to visit. Don’t miss it!

TIP: You can turn up and get a tour on the day during off-peak times, but generally you’ll probably have to book ahead a couple of days in advance. Make sure you get there 15 minutes early as well, as there’s a security check beforehand.

5. (Try to) get into the most exclusive nightclub in Germany

berlin berghain

Berghain is known as one of the most famous nightclubs in Germany, probably the world. It’s famous for its incredibly tough door policy, only letting the coolest of the cool through its doors. Head doorman Sven Marquardt is infamous in clubbing circles for enforcing an enigmatic entry policy that clubbers have been trying to crack for years. Fancy your chances? Good luck, you’ll definitely need it!
