The Place

Merah Putih is an iconic Indonesian restaurant and one of the best places I’ve been to in Bali. I’ve been there twice (three times if you count the time they catered my friend’s wedding) and it never disappoints.

Prices might be premium but you get food, service and a setting to match. And a one of a kind experience that you’re never likely to forget.

The Neighbourhood

Seminyak.Ten minutes’ walk from Petitenget Beach. Close to the One Eleven Hotel. And around 15 minutes (in different directions) from a fewother Bali favourites, Sardine(for Eurasian cuisine) and Sisterfields (for brunch).

A Good Shout for…

A romantic meal or a celebratory dinner. Basically any time you don’t mind splashing the cash to get something really top notch.

The Best Bits

• Tantalising the taste buds with lots of different flavours. In true Indonesian style, the menu is made up of small sharing plates, all of which are delicious. Great for peeps like me who often struggle to pick just one dish!
  
• The design. A kind of futuristic, sci-fi scheme that reminded me of architecture by Zaha Hadid. It was an amazing visual experience. (And there’s a gorgeous garden out the back too.)
  
• The five-star service. The phrase “service with a smile” could have been invented here.
