The Place

It’s a good job I’m writing this because I can’teven attempt to pronounce the name of this restaurant. La Quincaillerietranslates from the French as hardware store. And that’s exactly what thisvenue used to be. Although a fancier hardware store I never did see.

Nowadays, La Quincaillerie is a brasserie serving upBelgian cuisine. It’s a Brussels institution and has become famous for its topnotch seafood.

Expect premium prices. But also expect not to mindtoo much. The quality of the food and the setting make it totally worth thedosh.

The Neighbourhood

The cool and very chic Châtelain neighbourhood. Within easy walking distance of some other Brussels faves - Toucan Sur Mer, Knees to Chin, The Barn Bio Market and the Made in Louise hotel.

A Good Shout for…

Belgian morsels in amazing, antique surroundings.

The Best Bits

  • Original features that have been preserved to perfection. The huge central clock. Floor to ceiling shopkeeper drawers. A cast iron staircase. It’s unusual and beautiful. And the pictures just don’t do it justice.
  • The five star cuisine. I can certainly vouch for the seafood. Delicious!
  • Grabbing an upstairs table for two and getting a view over the whole restaurant. If you’re looking for a romantic dinner, upstairs is your best bet. And for those dining with a big group of friends, the ground floor has plenty of space.
