The Place

La Fabrique en Ville is an elegant but laidback caféin Parc d’Egmont. It’s possibly the most popular place I came across inBrussels. People were literally queueing ready for the place opening at 9am. Sobe sure to book ahead.

The Neighbourhood

La Fabrique en Ville is around five minutes’ walk from Louise metro station and more like 20 from the Made in Louise hotel and the Grand Place.

This café is incredibly easy to miss. Between a hotel (called The Hotel - I wonder how long that one took) and the entrance to an underground car park, you’ll see a wall and a gate set back from the busy road.

Walk on through the gate and you’ll discover a beautiful little park and La Fabrique en Ville. Talk about hidden gem!

A Good Shout for…

Tasty brekkie, brunch or lunch in a pretty park. Cake and coffee are also served throughout the day.

The Best Bits

  • Finding a little garden paradise in the middle of the city. I loved sitting outside to eat breakfast, shaded by the trees and looking out over the park.
  • If it’s too chilly to eat al fresco, things look pretty good inside too. The café is set in the park’s restored orangery. And it now features cool, botanical design, a mezzanine and even a cute playroom for kids.
  • The fact that brunch is served until 3.30pm on weekends, accommodating even the haziest and laziest of heads.
