The Place

Hinterland is an eco and vegan-friendly café serving breakfast and other tasty stuff until 3pm. I visited this place a couple of times on my most recent trip to Brussels because everything tasted just so damn good.

As you can see from the last picture on this post, this place is always packed and there’s often a queue. Hinterland doesn’t take reservations so arrive early if you want to bag yourself a table before the rush.

The Neighbourhood

Châtelain, where I spent most of my eating and drinking time in Brussels. It’s close to another great breakfast and lunch spot, Jat’ Café, around the corner from the Horta Museum and within easy walking distance of the Made in Louise hotel.

A Good Shout for…

A healthy brekkie to start the day. Or a snack after a visit to the Horta museum.

The Best Bits

  • The fact that this place feels completely off the tourist trail. It’s far enough away from Grand Place and the other big tourist sites to keep its cred as a local favourite.
  • Delicious organic breakfast with lots of eggs, granola and acai. And good choice for vegans and veggies. An interesting selection of speciality drinks and juices too.
  • Grabbing a table outside to drink a coffee and scoff some scran in the morning sun.
